Lost in translation
It does not behoove me to mock other people's attempts at translation (cf. the gaff in the title of this site, if you need proof of my ongoing mistakes in French) but I thought you might appreciate this little blurb detailing an exhibition we went to last week. You can try to guess the type of event:
Event Profile:
This event constitutes of proper right one of the emblematic certames and one of the references, the national level, between the initiatives congeneres. A good part of the responsibility for the success and longevity of this Hall is obviously the duty to the persistence of the expositors in the form as they face its participation in the certame and that if it has translated a well-known increase of the quality of the parts in exposition.
It was an arts and crafts show...

Bonjour, Kirstin. Glad to be able to keep up with you (and Greg) via the blog world. Would love to see you post some of your work on McDonald (MacDonald??) from time to time.
That was a hilarious post. I was introduced to some words I had never previously encountered - "certame," "congeneres." The rest of the event profile sounded like some advice for expository preachers, of which I am one. I just could not understand the advice.
Hi Greg and Kirstin
This isn't really a posting for your blog - just a personal message, but I think it's more likely to reach you than e-mail. You can delete it as soon as you've read it. Just to say, I am thinking of you because tonight in Anstruther it's Reindeer Night!!! Tom is getting to ride on one of the two floats organised by the school, and is desperately excited. Won't be the same without you two though.
With love
Antonia
Kirstin,
I just realized my last post was fairly cryptic as to my identity. It's Dan Sudfeld, and I just realized it is indeed George MacDonald, not McDonald.
Also, thought I'd let you that I put a link (and a short post)for your blog on my mine - spudfiles.blogspot.com. Let me know if I got all the info correct.
